The village of Iliyuru was troubled by a severe rat infestation. Rats filled every corner—kitchens, cupboards, rooftops—and destroyed food and household items, making life miserable for the villagers. One day, a poor, shabby beggar named Kodala Jogi approached the village leader and promised to rid the village of rats in exchange for a good reward. The leader agreed. Kodala Jogi then played a magical tune on his flute, attracting all the rats, which followed him to the river and drowned. When he returned for his reward, the villagers refused to pay, saying he had only played a tune. Angered by their dishonesty, Kodala Jogi played another tune that made everyone dance uncontrollably. Children fell, and the villagers panicked. Realizing their mistake, the leader apologized and promised to give the agreed reward. Kodala Jogi stopped the tune, restoring peace and teaching the villagers a lesson on keeping their word. Later, Illiyuru was named as Kolaluru.
