ಗಾದೆ ವೇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನ. ನಾವು ಆಡುವ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಮಾತು ನಮಗೆ ಮುತ್ತಿನಂತೆ ಗೌರವ ತಂದರೆ, ಆಡುವ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಮಾತು ಸಾವಿನಂತಹ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟವನ್ನು ತರಬಲ್ಲದು.
A proverb is like a Vedas. If the good words we speak bring us respect like pearls, then the bad words we speak can bring us great suffering like death.

ಪೀಠಿಕೆ:
“ಗಾದೆಗಳು ವೇದಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನ” ಎಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವೇದ ಸುಳ್ಳಾದರೂ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಸುಳ್ಳಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಿರಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದ ಅನುಭವದಿಂದ ಇಂತಹ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಂತಹ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಗಾದೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ “ಮಾತೇ ಮುತ್ತು ಮಾತೇ ಮೃತ್ಯು” ಎಂಬುದು ತುಂಬಾ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ಗಾದೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ಈ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೂ ಇರುವ ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವೆಂದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಲು ಮಾತು ಒಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಾಧನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ, ನಾವು ಆಡುವ ಮಾತು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ ಕೆಡಿಸಬಹುದು.
