Balu and Sethu were close friends who lived in the same colony. Near Balu’s house, there was a big mango tree with its branches spreading over the road. One day, Sethu spotted a ripe mango hanging from the tree and felt like eating it. He picked up a stone, threw it, and the mango came tumbling down.
Just then, Balu noticed it and quickly picked up the mango. Both friends began to argue over who the mango belonged to, and soon their quarrel turned into a scuffle. They rolled in the mud, fighting fiercely.
An elderly man passing by saw the boys and immediately intervened. He stopped the fight and gently explained to them the value of friendship, sharing, and kindness. By then, the mango had fallen in the mud and was completely spoiled.
To teach them a lesson, the elderly man used his stick to knock down another mango from the tree and gave it to the boys—this time asking them to share it equally.
