Dr. Rajendra Prasad was India’s first President and a great freedom fighter. He was known for his humility, wisdom, and deep sense of discipline and service.
One day, Dr. Rajendra Prasad walked into his room and saw torn pages from a book scattered all over the floor. He knew right away that some children must have done it. Instead of getting upset, he called the children and smiled kindly.
He said, “Tell me how many pages each of you have torn. I’ll give you that many rupees.”
The children were excited and thought it was a fun game. They quickly told him the numbers and happily took the money. Then, with love and warmth, Dr. Rajendra Prasad told them, “Books are like our friends. We should never tear their pages. We must treat them with care and learn from them.” The children never forgot this kind lesson.
Dr. Zakir Husain later became the third President of India. He was widely respected for his dedication to education, simplicity, and moral values.
Dr. Zakir Husain, Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, valued discipline and neat appearance. Noticing that students often came untidy, he taught them a unique lesson. One day, he sat at the university gate disguised as a shoe polish man. Many students got their shoes polished, unaware it was their chancellor. When they realized, they were shocked and ashamed. From then on, students began dressing neatly with pride.

ಅ) ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಪದಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾದುದನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಸ್ಥಳ ಭರ್ತಿಮಾಡಿರಿ. (Fill in the blanks)
೧. ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ತಪ್ಪಿನ ಅರಿವಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂದೆನಿಸಿತು.
೨. ಪ್ರಸಾದರು ಅವರಿಗೆಲ್ಲ ಅಷ್ಟಷ್ಟು ಕಾಸು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

೧. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ : ಡಾ. ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದರು ನಮ್ಮ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
೨. ಕಾಸು : ಡಾ. ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದರು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕಾಸು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
೩. ಶಿಸ್ತು : ಡಾ. ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದರು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಶಿಸ್ತು ಕಲಿಸಿದರು.

ಉ: ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದರು ತಾವು ಜನರ ಸೇವಕ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
೨. ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಪುಟಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಸಾದರು ಏನನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು?

೫. ಜಾಕಿರ್ ಹುಸೇನರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಕಲಿಸಲು ಯಾವ ವೇಷ ಹಾಕಿದರು?

ಉ: ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದರು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು .
೨. “ತಾತಾ , ನಾವು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಎಂದೂ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳ ಪುಟಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ .”
ಉ: ಮಕ್ಕಳು ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದರಿಗೆ ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಉ) ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೂರು – ನಾಲ್ಕು ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿರಿ. (Answer the following in 3-4 sentences)
೧. ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಅವರ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿರಿ.
ಉ: ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಅವರ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ಪ್ರಶಂಸನೀಯವಾಗಿದ್ದು , ಅವರದು ಜನಕ ಮಹಾರಾಜನಂತೆ ಋಷಿ ಸದೃಶ ಜೀವನ , ಅವರು ಕೋಪವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿಕ್ಕಬಲ್ಲವರಾಗಿದ್ದು ಬಾಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಸ್ತು , ಸಂಯಮ , ಸಮಯ ಪಾಲನೆ ಇವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಭಾರಿ ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತಾವು ` ಜನರ ಸೇವಕ ‘ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು .
